Disaster Response Team - Chalmette, Louisiana

October 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Eleven members of the Hollins Road CoB Disaster Response Team, left for Chalmette, Louisiana October 11th, 2008 and returned October 18th.

Chalmette is in St. Bernard Parish. Katrina caused levee failures, resulting in 6-20 feet of water inundating homes throughout the parish. Over 200 parish residents lost their lives, and every home was officially declared “uninhabitable.”

The volunteers from HRCB were able to provide help for electrical/ plumbing work, painting, floor laying, window framing, and digging ditches, along with cooking meals for the group.  In addition, one volunteer was able to befriend a chicken.

Thanks for all the dedicated men and women; who gave their time and talents to help rebuild Chalmette, Louisiana!

Oh what a wonderful evening it was!!! The music was “OVER THE TOP”!! Lets give the choir a standing ovation!!  And not only that, but on behalf of the Friendship Circle we sincerely want to thank each and every one who brought food ,helped serve the food, shared in the fellowship and helped with kitchen duty!!  The Lord tells us to “ask and yea shall receive”.  What can we add to that?  We are so blessed to have so many helping hands here at Hollins Road. I continue to say and believe God is truly blessing us each and every day in everyway.  Let us thank Him daily for our abundant life. Phyllis Hicks ,Friendship Circle

We also collected $486 from a love offering taken after the concert. The money will go to Camp Bethel.
