Eleven members of the Hollins Road CoB Disaster Response Team, left for Chalmette, Louisiana October 11th, 2008 and returned October 18th.

Chalmette is in St. Bernard Parish. Katrina caused levee failures, resulting in 6-20 feet of water inundating homes throughout the parish. Over 200 parish residents lost their lives, and every home was officially declared “uninhabitable.”

The volunteers from HRCB were able to provide help for electrical/ plumbing work, painting, floor laying, window framing, and digging ditches, along with cooking meals for the group.  In addition, one volunteer was able to befriend a chicken.

Thanks for all the dedicated men and women; who gave their time and talents to help rebuild Chalmette, Louisiana!

The HRCOB Men’s Fellowship group just completed its second house framing for L& L development.  Under the directions of Jay Light, the men spent the better part of a week working towards funding future projects.  This funding will be used for the less fortunate, in addition to own church projects.  On behalf of the many that are blessed, by your talents and hard work, we thank you.  Jay would like to thank all the men for their friendship and help.

Message from the Moderator

This is a very special, historic Annual Conference, as we
gather to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Brethren movement.
I look forward to how the Lord will work among us. I am
so very grateful for the brotherly/sisterly love and prayer support
I have experienced from across the spectrum of the Brethren, and
I pray that we will continue to work at discerning how we can all
follow Jesus together. Surrendering to God as individuals and as a church will
be required so that Christ can transform us to become what God needs us to be and that the
Holy Spirit may fully launch us to faithfully follow Jesus into our fourth century as a Body
of Christ.
